This silky smooth ginger apple cocktail is the perfect seasonal cocktail for your cold weather parties.

Ingredients
  • 1 lemon cut in half + 2 lemon slices
  • 1 egg white
  • 4 oz Calvados apple brandy
  • 3 oz ginger liqueur
  • dash of bitters
Instructions
  1. Heat a cast iron or stainless steel pan over high heat. Sear the lemon slices and two lemon halves, cut side down, in the pan until browned, about 3 mins (flip the slices once).
  2. Squeeze the juice from the lemon halves and remove any seeds. Reserve the charred slices for garnish.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, add the egg white, Calvados, ginger liqueur, bitters and 1 1/2 oz of the charred lemon juice and shake vigorously for 30 seconds.
  4. Add a large scoop of ice and shake for an additional 30 seconds.
  5. Strain into two coupe or martini glasses and garnish with charred lemon slices.
Recipe Notes

    • Don't skip charring the lemons! Not only do the slices make an attractive garnish, the charred lemon juice adds a deliciousness smokiness to the cocktail.

    • You can char the lemons and squeeze the juice from them in advance and simply mix the cocktail when you're ready to serve.

    • The egg white is a key component in this cocktail. It balances the bold flavors and creates a silky mouth feel.

    • Shake this ginger apple cocktail vigorously to properly blend the egg white and create a smooth and frothy finish.
    • This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled if serving a crowd.
