Creamy Steel Cut Oats with Maple Applesauce

This ain’t no ordinary breakfast cereal! These steel cuts oats are extra creamy, loaded with toppings, and pack an eye-opening tasty punch for your morning.

This bowl of oats is anything but boring and has renewed my appreciation for oatmeal season. Trust me, this is one tasty rut to be stuck in.

INGREDIENTS

Creamy Steel Cut Oats: - Unsalted butter - Steel cut oats - Skim milk - Water - Kosher salt Maple Applesauce: - Apples - Maple syrup - Water - Cinnamon - Kosher salt - Nutmeg

Creamy Steel Cut Oats: Melt butter in a med/large saucepan over med/high heat. Stir in the oatmeal and cook until toasty, about 2-3 mins.

INSTRUCTIONS

Stir in the milk, water and salt and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook, stirring frequently for about 25 mins.

Maple Applesauce: Core apples (you can leave the skin on for a more rustic applesauce) and roughly chop them. Add all of the ingredients to a small saucepan and bring to a boil.

Reduce to a simmer and cook until apples are very tender, about 15 mins. Blend with an immersion blender or in a food processor.
