Ring in the new year with this festive and easy martini!
So what are we resolving to do this year? Are we swearing to eat less and exercise more? Are we traveling or remodeling? Branching out or buckling down? Starting or quitting?
No matter how many years pass or how many auld lang synes I’ve sung, the new year always gets me thinking. It doesn’t if matter if it’s a year when I’m committed to making steadfast resolutions or a year when I swear them off, I always take stock of the previous year and all of the good and bad that went along with it.
As resolutions go, I typically fail exponentially. I pen lofty, unrealistic goals and then beat myself up when I crack under the pressure, usually no more than a week or two in. Over the years I’ve resolved to juice, soup, kill it at crossfit, become a runner, really learn photoshop and stop procrastinating. I’ve sworn off carbs, (that lasted less than a day), wine during the week (made it til Tuesday), and attempted to curb my coffee intake (didn’t even make it til New Year’s day brunch).
Maybe this year I’ll focus on smaller, attainable objectives or maybe one big, overly general resolution like bringing you guys a year of my best recipes yet. But before we get to that, I have one more recipe to round out 2017. It’s an easy, celebratory cocktail perfect for your New Year’s Eve festivities….a pomegranate martini. It’s strong and bright, cheery and bold. It’s a great way to mark the end of one exceptionally nutty year and ring in a new year with new hopes, goals, and dreams. Happy new year and I’ll see you back here in 2018!
