Rosemary and garlic grilled lamb takes center stage in this Mediterranean mezze platter that’s perfect for grazing.
Sometimes more is more like when you’re pulling out all the stops on a colorful and delicious Mediterranean mezze platter. My muse? Tender and juicy rosemary garlic grilled lamb inspired this vibrant board.
Lamb steaks took a long overnight soak in a classic Mediterranean flavored marinade punctuated with rosemary and garlic. While overnight is ideal, you can marinate the lamb for just four hours and the flavors will still pop.
Compliment the lamb with loads fresh veggies and dips. I’ve listed all of my favorite ingredients in the recipe, but make this platter your own!
Grazing board styling tips
- Start with your stars and bigger items and build around them.
- Choose a theme (tacos, Italian) or color profile (fall colors like orange, yellow and red).
- Use different shapes and sizes. Cut up some cheeses while leaving some in whole rounds or wedges. Fold or roll meats, slice up veggies and leave little tomatoes or grapes on the vine.
- Bunches of grapes or a pile of berries are great at filling in empty spaces.
- Think out of the box by adding crunchy nuts, dried fruits, jams or fresh herbs to complement the main ingredients.
Tips for success
- The lamb will be delicious after marinating for 4 hours, but even better if you let it marinate overnight.
- Be sure to let the grilled lamb rest for at least 10 mins before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.
- Slice the lamb very thinly for serving and serve it warm or at room temperature.
- Don’t skip the fresh mint as it compliments the flavor of the lamb.
- The ingredients for the mezze platter are simply suggestions (and my favorites). Have fun and make it your own by adding your favorite items.
- This platter is made to be served as casual family style and can be left at room temperature for an hour or two (if it lasts that long!).
